I like the focal point on this one and of course, the colour...you just can't go wrong with flowers. I would have attempted a little different angle - perhaps more from looking down upon the lily?

That way, you can maybe capture more detail of the petals rather than the buds. The background colours blend well, but I would have cropped out a little of the pale sky as it takes away from the pretty orange petals.

The focus is sharp and detailed and I think I understand that you may have been trying to capture the flower from the underside? If so...are you able to get a little closer, perhaps a macro so that the yellow and green of the stem are the central theme...

Just a suggestion. Well done! :aww:

You may want to consider popping up the fill flash when shooting with a lot of light behind you. This will help balance the 'front side' of your subject. Be careful that you do not use too much power on the flash especially since you are so close to the object that you over light the subject. There is a +/- button on your camera at the popup button and with the wheel you can dial down the power of the flash so you don't over expose. Give it a try and see how it looks. Yup....play with it a few times and download the results and so you know what to do the next time.

Btw, I like how you focused on the stem stock and allowed the pedals to fan the background.

you were shooting into the light, did you use any fill flash? Just wondering if you didn't how it would have turned out.
